North Carolina, 2011
Attorney Elizabeth Osborne Lawrence is motivated at all times to provide her clients with the peace of mind that their wishes will be fulfilled and that their loved ones will be well cared for. Liz has always had a special relationship with her grandmother, whose growing care needs inspired her pursuit of a career in elder law and estate planning. Since beginning her legal career, Liz has expanded her practice to include estate planning for individuals across a wide variety of ages, assets and concerns, including planning for individuals with disabled family members. Liz also represents executors, administrators, beneficiaries and heirs in probate cases and trust administration.
Prior to joining Kwartin & Levine, LLP, Liz had her own law practice serving the metro Atlanta area, concentrating in the areas of estate planning, elder law and special needs planning. Before founding her own practice, Liz worked as an attorney at King & Spalding LLP in Atlanta. During this period, Liz was involved as a volunteer with the Senior Legal Hotline, run by Atlanta Legal Aid, and continued to volunteer with several other independent pro bono projects. She received King & Spalding’s Pro Bono Service Award in 2011 and 2012.
While in law school, Liz participated in The Wake Forest University School of Law’s Elder Law Clinic. Through this clinical experience, Liz gained a deeper understanding of the myriad of legal issues facing the elderly and the importance of helping families of all ages plan for long-term care and end-of-life challenges. Liz served as Senior Articles Editor of the Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law and also worked as a research assistant for two professors in the areas of vaccination laws and informed consent.
Liz is an active member of both the State Bar of Georgia and the North Carolina State Bar. Liz was the 2016-2017 Chair of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Elder Law Section, and is on the Board of the Estate Planning and Probate Section. She is also a member of the Sole Practitioner/Small Firm Section. Liz is involved in the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers (GAWL), and has served as a guardian ad litem for the Probate Court of DeKalb County. Liz also serves on the board of directors of the Metropolitan Ballet Theatre, a non-profit pre-professional ballet school in Alpharetta, Georgia. A native of Gwinnett County, Liz left Georgia to earn her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Auburn University and her Juris Doctor from the Wake Forest University School of Law. She and her husband, Christopher Lawrence, currently live with their two daughters, Charlotte and Lucy, and their dog Mae in the Virginia/Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta.
